Gable House Nursery and Burlington Nursery and Pre-School

Supporting your child
At both of our Nurseries we are committed to providing exceptional care and education for your child. Our team of dedicated staff members attend regular training to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Early Childhood education and care. All staff have room/age appropriate training for the cohort of children which they are supporting. All staff are Paediatric First Aid trained and this training is refreshed annually through CPD courses and every three years in person. This ensures that they are continuously equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the best possible education and care for your child. Key workers liaise with parents continuously through our Parent App so that every step of the way you are kept informed and included in your child's learning journey.
Transitions are handled sensitively and so as children move from home surroundings to nursery or from one nursery room to another, the process is handled gently and gradually from one key worker to the next to help make your child feel happy, settled and secure.
From your child's very first day, you can rest assured that they will receive the highest quality care and support, setting them on the path towards optimal development. Our commitment to providing standards of excellence allows us to provide the highest quality of care and education, fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment where your child can thrive.
Continual development
We believe that every child is unique with their own set of starting points when they first arrive at Gable House. For this reason we offer multiple short free trial sessions prior to their official start date to enable a really smooth and stress free transition from home to nursery. During that time we will be busy working with you the parent/carer gathering as much information about your child as we can which we can then use to base individual planning around.
Each child is assigned a key worker who will be responsible for observing, tracking and supporting your child through tailored 'in the moment planning'. This type of planning will promote optimal developmental progress because we believe in seizing every opportunity to teach children on the go, in particular using spontaneous play as a base for revealing new learning opportunities. For this reason we endeavour to keep paperwork and tick boxes to an absolute minimum and instead invest time in paying close attention to helping your child
reach their full potential.
Special Educational Needs
We are committed to delivering exceptional levels of support for all children, including those who may have additional or specific needs and disabilities.
With this in mind we feel that all staff must continuously review and update training in this area. Both our settings are currently working towards the Dingley's Promise mark as a way of showcasing our commitment to continuous professional development in the area of supporting children with Special additional Needs and Disabilities. We believe we go above and beyond expected standards in this area. This includes the offer of facilitating carefully planned transitions from nursery to main stream or special schools and supporting all children and families every step of the way. We fund additional one to one or small group play and learning for those children who require additional support with our enhanced staffing ratios. This is in addition to any additional funded support awarded through East Riding council. We believe in providing equality of opportunities for all.
Children with additional needs will have more tailored and specific goals set out for them through detailed plans, developed and supported through a multi agency approach where required. We have just completed our portfolio of evidence linked to gaining accreditation for the Portage NPA Stamp of Approval.
